Miqati: Hezbollah needs to resolve weapons issue before demanding Israeli withdrawal
Nabil Miqati confirmed that the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel provides guarantees that Lebanese facilities will not be targeted or obstructed, but it does not offer a definitive solution. He believed that the ceasefire agreement and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 are the basis for any settlement and called for dialogue among the parties to achieve this. He described the talk of Hezbollah leaving Lebanon without addressing the issue of arms as impossible, and pointed out that solutions to the current crisis require stability on the borders and comprehensive peace. He also affirmed that the government remains in place and continues its work with Arab and international support, and that he has no intention of governmental change at this time.
