After the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon concludes, discussions are underway about the future of international operations in the region, especially as Lebanon refuses to extend the mission and the United States insists on its end, despite support from some countries. Lebanon faces significant challenges related to time pressures, the ongoing Israeli war and its on-the-ground impacts, as well as defining the mandate for a new force amid obstacles such as Israel's veto on the participation of countries like France. This complicates the task of forming a new international force and establishing its legal and operational framework.
