Israel tightens border rules amid Lebanese and Syrian entries
Israel has announced increased security concerns in the aviation sector following the entry of 1,240 airline crew members from countries with which it has no diplomatic relations, including Syrians and Lebanese, over the past year. This reflects potential security vulnerabilities after an attempted hijacking and destruction of a Fly Dubai aircraft. As a result, the government is moving towards implementing stricter security measures, including background checks on crew members before flights and requiring airlines to notify authorities 48 hours in advance, along with steps to prevent similar incidents and achieve more precise security control over flight operations. Additionally, the measures include establishing lists of countries with security threats and restricting the entry of crew members from these nations as part of efforts to enhance aviation security and address emerging risks.
