Saudi Arabia secures Bab al-Mandeb
The current Saudi offensive in Yemen aims to recapture the positions seized by the Houthis along the western coast, especially around Bab el-Mandeb. It comes as a military response and a political message following the deterioration of security in strategic waterways. Saudi Arabia is now providing aerial protection for this vital strait, which is one of the most important arteries of global trade, in order to prevent the Houthis from using it as a tool of coercion connected to an regional axis led by Iran. This comes amid Saudi Arabia reaching the limits of political and military patience, turning from defensive measures into a direct offensive to change the environment of threats. It is emphasized that the conflict is not with the Yemeni people, but with a project aimed at using Yemen as a platform for regional conflict and fueling threats to international interests.
