Kushner and Dmitriev Negotiate Nord Stream Deal
The article discussed conversations between Russian and American officials, including U.S. envoy Jared Kushner, regarding the potential restart of the Nord Stream pipelines for transporting Russian gas to Germany prior to the Ukraine war. Sources indicate that the discussions involved the role of the American investor in this matter and that they might be part of mediation efforts to halt the conflict, as Kushner believes that economic deals could help achieve peace and re-establish gas flows to Europe, despite European and American sanctions that prevent this. He also suggested that resuming supplies would require political consensus and possibly changes in U.S. and European policies in the future. However, Germany and other countries firmly oppose the return to operations of the pipelines due to sanctions and military costs. The issue remains on the agenda without significant progress at this time.
