UNIFIL Mission's End Faults Israel
Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri received the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Kalash, and her delegation to discuss the general situation in Lebanon and the region. The meeting focused on the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern villages and Lebanon's support for the presence of UNIFIL. Berri warned of the danger of the International Emergency Force's mandate ending without a replacement, considering that such an event would threaten international legitimacy and UN Resolution 1701. He also met with U.S. Senator James Paul Conlandford, during which Berri emphasized that Israel has not adhered to any of the agreements made since Resolution 425 up to the November 2024 agreement, clarifying that the main reason is Israel's non-compliance with the obligations under these agreements.
