Security Breach in Sistan and Baluchestan
The province of Sistan and Baluchistan in southeastern Iran has experienced an unprecedented security escalation, characterized by a series of simultaneous armed attacks targeting army and police forces across three main areas. These attacks resulted in the deaths of two members of the military and security forces, and at least three others were injured. Sources reported that one soldier and one police officer were killed, and others were wounded in an ambush targeting a vehicle belonging to the 88th Armored Division as they were on their way to change shifts, as well as an attack on a police patrol and an assault on the police headquarters in various locations, using heavy weapons and an explosive device. This escalation is attributed to the activities of the "Jaish al-Adl" (Army of Justice) organization, which focuses its operations along the border with Pakistan against Iranian forces. It also reflects the fragility of security control in the area, which suffers from ethnic and religious marginalization, amid ambiguity regarding the direct responsibility for these attacks.
