Funds for Shelter Surpass 200M
The article addresses the topic of funds allocated for reconstruction and housing in Lebanon. The total amount designated for relief has exceeded $200 million, with additional international and Arab sources providing over $300 million. It indicates that a significant portion of the funding is allocated to compensate those affected by the wars of 2024 and 2026. The process of disbursing aid is set to begin soon, with estimates suggesting that support for each family could reach more than $3,000. The article links the need to repair damaged homes—estimated to cost less than $100 million—with the existence of substantial delayed funds. This raises questions about why implementation has been hindered despite the availability of financial resources and the urgent need for a swift response to help citizens. It emphasizes that continued delays will impose additional costs and worsen the suffering of residents, noting that some entities possess the capacity to carry out rehabilitation efforts quickly.
