Schröder marks Putin's birthday
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder participated in the birthday celebration of Russian President Vladimir Putin's 74th birthday at his residence in Moscow, where he appeared alongside Putin, shaking hands and smiling. This comes within the context of Schröder's ongoingRelations with Russia, particularly after he assumed the office of German Chancellor, and his recent connections with Russian companies, such as the HyperGlobus chain of stores, one of whose branches he visited in Moscow a few days ago. Despite the criticism he faces due to his ties with Russia, especially following the invasion of Ukraine, Putin suggested that Schröder represent Europe in peace talks, a proposal that European foreign ministers have rejected.
