Finance Minister advocates gradual budget unification
The article focused on Lebanon's efforts to reform the management of the public budget. Minister of Finance Yassine Jaber received a delegation from the European Union Mission and the SIGMA program, which is affiliated with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), to discuss progress in the budget reform support project. The discussions centered on a reform strategy that includes linking financial appropriations to government policies and priorities, integrating the budgets of public institutions with the ministry's budget, and establishing spending caps for ministries within a medium-term financial framework. The minister emphasized the importance of adopting gradual and realistic steps to achieve tangible results, encouraging the formation of working teams within ministries and the identification of key implementation priorities. A draft reform strategy was also presented to the minister, intended for review in December.
