Migration Org Warns Gaza Flood Risks
The International Organization for Migration has warned of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, where nearly 1.8 million displaced people are facing flood risks with the arrival of winter. This is especially concerning given the forecast of heavy rains linked to the El Niño phenomenon, which could be the strongest ever recorded. The organization stated that the majority of the population in the area is in urgent need of tents and shelter assistance. However, Israeli restrictions are hindering the entry of vital materials such as wood and plastic covers, leading to a significant shortage of aid, worsening conditions in shelters, increased risk of structural collapses, and flooding. There are growing fears that the situation will worsen further as infrastructure continues to be damaged.
