Italy: Saudi Arabia Requested Defense Assistance
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto emphasized that Italy's military presence in the Middle East is based on a clear legal framework. He also noted that Saudi Arabia has repeatedly requested our assistance to defend its territory against potential attacks. He stated that the Kingdom is a key partner for Italy and supports peace efforts in the region. Additionally, he mentioned that the presence of Italian forces in Saudi Arabia is not new, referring to an attack on Al Taif Air Base in September, during which an Italian aircraft was hit but the safety of the military personnel was unaffected.
