Lebanon Prisoners' Strike Reaches Day 28
A group of approximately 600 prisoners in Lebanon, including tuberculosis patients, have been protesting in Roumieh and other prisons for 28 days against the suspension of the general amnesty law. Their health is deteriorating, with 72 cases in critical condition. The prisoners held signs calling for an end to their strike, which demands the reinstatement of the amnesty law. The prisons are facing a growing health crisis, as diseases spread and the number of infected inmates rises. Human rights organizations are calling for an immediate health emergency to be declared so that measures can be taken to curb the spread of illnesses within the prisons.
