Submission to the state as authority
Metropolitan Elias Aouad of Beirut of the Orthodox Greek Church delivered a sermon emphasizing the importance of everyone's obedience to the state and considering it the guardian authority in society. He affirmed that Christian faith is a way of life that transforms into acts of love and justice, not just a concept or slogan. He stated that having icons or speaking about doctrine is not enough if a person's life lacks mercy and humility. He pointed out that certain actions that undermine the role of the state and cause its destruction place responsibility on everyone. He urged that love for homeland and its deeds must be demonstrated through beneficial actions that leave a positive impact, stressing that the state must hold sovereignty over all to ensure stability and security.
