Hamas weapons face testing amidst Israel protection in Lebanon
Israel announced that an American company, acting on behalf of the "Peace Council," has been granted permission to enter the Gaza Strip to begin a field survey aimed at identifying proposed sites for collecting and destroying weapons from Hamas. This is part of a U.S. plan to disarm the territory. The operations will be concentrated in the southern Gaza Strip, particularly in Rafah and Khan Younis, to establish procedures for the safe handover of weapons while providing Israeli protection for the officials involved. This step is part of the Trump plan to disarm Hamas and strip the Gaza Strip of weapons, but the implementation mechanisms remain unclear and face security and political challenges, amidst ongoing Israeli operations within the territory and the continued delay in executing Hamas disarmament.
