EU launches new Lebanon support mission
The European Union foreign ministers announced the establishment of a new support mission in Lebanon, extending for three years. Its goal is to advise and assist the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces to enhance territorial control, protect borders, and secure internal stability in the country. This step comes as part of the EU's efforts to support Lebanon's stability, following the adoption of support programs and financial aid, with the EU approving a package worth 505 million euros to strengthen reform and stability efforts in Lebanon. This mission is part of the EU's strategy to support the capacity of Lebanese security institutions in facing challenges, aiming to provide technical assistance and improve security control across territories, especially amidst ongoing security and political challenges in the region.
