Actress detained after in-flight altercation
A famous actress, Salma Blair, was arrested after becoming involved in a fight aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York, which resulted in injuries to two flight attendants, as well as a police officer and a nurse during her attempted detention. Her lawyer explained that her behavior was due to a medical emergency caused by her multiple sclerosis, and that she did not intentionally act aggressively. She was detained by police at John F. Kennedy Airport, then taken to the hospital for examinations. She faces two assault charges under local law, in addition to federal charges, with her bail set at $20,000.
