Israel reveals hypersonic missile in Washington
Israeli company Rafael has unveiled a full prototype of the Sky Sonic system designed to intercept hypersonic missiles, during the AUSA 2026 exhibition in Washington. This prototype represents a significant development three years after the system's concept was initially announced, although technical details remain classified. The goal is to counter threats from missiles exceeding five times the speed of sound, with sharp maneuvering capabilities that make interception more challenging. The system is expected to be integrated into a multi-layered defense network alongside Iron Dome and David's Sling systems, providing advanced protection against a range of threats, including ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons, and other aerial dangers.
