Trump-Putin diesel deal unlikely to lower US fuel prices
The Wall Street Journal suggested that it is unlikely that the Trump-Putin deal to supply Russia with diesel will significantly reduce fuel prices in the United States, noting that a shipment of 300,000 tons is equivalent to the country's consumption for just 18 hours. The article pointed out that attacks on Ukraine are reducing Russia’s ability to export diesel, alongside ongoing disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which put pressure on the global fuel market. It also explained that Russia has promised to immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel, with commitments to deliver 500,000 tons in November and one million tons in December 2026.
