Athens 2026: Rubio's Decision Point
The article discusses Marco Rubio's speech in Athens in 2026, which recalls the story of the choice that Ronald Reagan called for in 1964, emphasizing its importance in preserving Western civilization and its values. It focuses on the idea that a civilization ceases to be great when it abandons its principles, and underscores the necessity of defending life and freedom against the culture of death celebrated by certain ideologies, especially in the Middle East. The speech affirms that peace requires deterrence and sovereign international alliances, and calls for the creation of a shared security framework between the West and the region to ensure stability and development. It also reaffirms that the current choice is between building a civilization based on progress and freedom or adopting methods of destruction.
