IMF urges faster structural reforms before aid
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced its intention to send a mission to Lebanon next November to continue discussions on supporting the Lebanese economy and reaching a financial support program. Recent talks in Bangkok focused on restructuring the banking sector, restoring Lebanese confidence in the financial system, and establishing mechanisms to bring public debt back to a sustainable path. The Fund emphasizes the importance of accelerating structural reforms, such as activating the law to address banking sector issues, enacting legislation to tackle the fiscal gap, as well as preparing the 2027 budget and a medium-term financial framework.
