Trump calls Musk an 80% genius with a minor issue
The statement by U.S. President Donald Trump describing billionaire Elon Musk’s intelligence as "80 percent of a genius" with a note that he has a "small problem" in the remaining percentage, was made sarcasatically during a campaign rally supporting a Republican candidate for Arizona. Trump highlighted his previous relationship with Musk, emphasizing his intelligence, but indirectly criticized Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and her level of intelligence. His relationship with Musk has seen ups and downs; Trump supported Musk in the 2024 elections, and Musk, during his time in the White House, led some government initiatives until he left in May 2025 after criticizing a spending bill proposed by Trump. Despite these disagreements, Musk has since July donated at least two million dollars to the Republican Party in the midterm elections.
