Two ships ablaze in Black Sea, 8 missing
Black Sea waters off Romania saw a fire break out on two ships overnight, following the entry of Russian drone aircraft into the country's airspace. The incidents resulted in the loss of eight crew members, while four others survived. These events come amid a rising pattern of drone attacks on cargo ships near the coasts of Romania and Bulgaria over the past ten days, threatening vital shipping routes in the region and increasing the risk of a global food crisis, as the area is one of the world's major grain sources. Although authorities have not officially linked the fire to Russian drones, the repeated attacks reflect an escalation in the maritime conflict related to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
