Lebanon State Council Denies Fines Suspension
The State Consultative Council in Lebanon has rejected the former ministers' requests to stop the enforcement of fines imposed on them by the Audit Bureau, amounting to millions of dollars, despite their appeals against these fines. These decisions remain in effect until a final ruling is issued, allowing the continuation of procedures to collect the amounts owed to the general treasury. In November 2025, the Audit Bureau issued rulings imposing fines on several former ministers concerning cases related to the leasing and purchase of buildings and losses in transaction management, with amounts ranging from $4.9 million to $11.3 million, with one fine being suspended from execution. Appeals against these rulings are still pending before the State Consultative Council awaiting a final decision.
