Since June 29, 2026, the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture has been conducting campaigns to vaccinate cattle, sheep, and goats against foot-and-mouth disease, and these efforts continue to this day. Two rounds of vaccination have been carried out for the cattle: the first dose was administered in 4,934 farms, totaling 60,492 cows vaccinated, while the second dose was given in 2,589 farms, vaccinating 35,485 cows. Additionally, 258,820 sheep and 203,005 goats have been vaccinated across 4,128 farms. This endeavor reflects the commitment of the General Directorate of Agriculture and the Animal Resources Department, despite challenges and limited resources, in order to protect livestock from foot-and-mouth disease.
