Lebanese leaders must choose between separating state and militias
A unit of the Lebanese Army discovered approximately 200 kilograms of explosive materials in the area of Al-Qasr – Hermel. The cache included TNT and C4, and was reportedly on its way from the Beqaa Valley to southern Beirut suburbs, with indications that its origin may be Syrian. Investigations revealed that these materials are not suitable for manufacturing warheads or projectiles but are instead used in demolishing structures, mountain operations, and assassinations. This raises suspicions about Hezbollah's intentions. These developments come amid tense relations between the party and Iran on one side, and the Lebanese government on the other, which is demanding restrictions on arms. There is also an expectation that Iranian officials will arrive to discuss the implications of the discovery of the explosive materials.
