Egyptian Defense Council to support Saudi Arabia
The Egyptian National Defense Council has decided to provide all forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to counter attacks by the Houthi group in Yemen, as part of solidarity with Saudi Arabia and to ensure its security and stability. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting attended by senior military and political officials to discuss regional developments and the escalation of attacks against Saudi Arabia. The council affirmed that Egypt's support comes in light of the historic ties and strong bonds between the two countries, while continuing political and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation in the region. An emergency session of the Egyptian Parliament is expected to be convened to examine and authorize these measures, although some deputies expressed concern about the possibility of any Egyptian military intervention.
