Lebanese Forces Protest Amid Legitimacy Stance
.jpg&w=3840&q=75)
The article discusses the escalation of political and security tensions in Lebanon, where clashes occurred in the capital between Hezbollah and Lebanese security forces. The confrontations followed provocative marches by Hezbollah in response to arrests related to the Beqaa Valley explosives. The Lebanese army responded by deploying extensive security checkpoints and reaffirming its commitment to pursue those wanted, while the United States clearly opposed Hezbollah's continued threats to civil peace. There was also international support for independent investigations. Diplomatically, Baghdad hosted meetings between Lebanon and Iran, while the American ambassador expressed Washington’s displeasure with Lebanon’s maneuvers and, unprecedentedly, criticized Nabih Berri, signaling the end of political hesitation. These developments coincided with Trump’s support for Netanyahu and warnings of a potential regional war, placing Lebanon at a critical crossroads: either establish the state's authority or descend into chaos.
