US plans to target Iran's oil island
The article reveals that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of launching military strikes on Khark Island in Iran, which is a major center for Iranian oil exports, in order to increase pressure on Tehran ahead of the midterm congressional elections in November. The plan involves targeting oil storage tanks, pipelines, and tanker loading facilities, with the aim of undermining Iran's economy and forcing it to make concessions on its nuclear program and to open the Hormuz Strait. While Iran affirms its commitment to its conditions and continues to study the U.S. response, there are concerns that targeting Khark Island could lead to disruptions in oil markets and price hikes, amid fears of military escalation and negative impacts on the global economy.
