France Enforces Partial Curfew Amid Price Protest Violence
French authorities have imposed a partial curfew in Paris and other cities, including Lille and Lyon, following an escalation of violence and protests over the rising cost of living. Peaceful demonstrations turned into clashes with security forces and acts of vandalism, resulting in the detention of over 2,500 people and the injury of about a thousand police officers. This comes six months before the presidential elections, amid calls for new protests. President Macron acknowledged failures in managing the crisis, and the anger in France and Europe has increased due to soaring prices and the cost of living.
