NATO deploys radars and drones after six Black Sea attacks
NATO has acknowledged the deployment of military reinforcements in the Black Sea to address the escalation of military tensions coinciding with a series of drone attacks on merchant ships, which are attributed to Russia. The reinforcements include naval patrol aircraft, radar systems, explosive ordnance disposal teams, intelligence personnel, and drones, all aimed at strengthening surveillance and information sharing among member states. This move comes amid heightened regional tensions following attacks targeting Bulgarian and Romanian ships, which resulted in the sinking of two vessels and the detention of several sailors. European warnings have also been issued regarding potential repercussions on global food security due to the escalation of Russian attacks in the area.
