Study links cannabis to intoxication
The study reveals that the method of marijuana consumption affects the amount of anesthesia needed during medical procedures. Smokers and e-cigarette users require higher doses of the anesthetic drug compared to those who consume it via edibles or do not use it at all. Research has shown that inhaling cannabis irritates the airways and increases the body's need for higher doses, especially during procedures like endoscopy. The findings highlight the importance of informing doctors about the method of use prior to anesthesia to ensure safety. The study suggests the need for further extensive research to confirm these results and recommends being honest with anesthesiologists about the source and method of cannabis consumption.
