Italy truck strike causes food shortages
The truck drivers' strike in Italy caused widespread disruptions to the food supply chains, leading to empty shelves in stores as a result of highway closures in the south, where the closures have lasted for a week due to rising fuel costs. Officials explained that this situation has resulted in shortages of fresh and perishable products, emphasizing that if these conditions persist, they could threaten the availability of goods, harm businesses, and cause inconvenience to consumers. The government responded with financial support of 480,000 euros, with plans to increase the aid to one billion euros, while the strike continues in some areas, further exacerbating the crisis's impact on the local market.
