Aoun Pays Tribute to Shamoun's Patriotism
On the anniversary of the assassination of Engineer Dany Shimon, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that Lebanon must transition from a chapter of pain and conflicts into a strong and just nation. He highlighted the importance of national sovereignty and the exclusive right of the state to decide on war and peace. He pointed out that the years of war taught us that Lebanon is not a battleground for others' conflicts and that we must hold on to national unity to protect the future of generations. He also stressed the necessity of turning this remembrance into a motivation to build a strong state that supports stability, preserves sovereignty, and avoids the tragedies of the past. Moreover, Aoun linked the experiences of war with current challenges, affirming that the unity of the Lebanese people and the sovereignty of the state are the decisive guarantees to prevent the repetition of past tragedies.
