Treasury Secretary warns of risks if Democrats win
The article discusses a warning from U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin that a Democratic victory in the November 2026 midterm elections could potentially undo the achievements of former President Donald Trump's administration. He explained that Democrats would likely work to repeal the programs and policies established by Trump, pointing out that the United States might experience unrest similar to the current European protests over rising fuel prices and living costs if the Democrats win. Mnuchin also noted that Democratic control of the House of Representatives would not significantly hinder Trump's agenda, given the broad authority of the U.S. government to impose tariffs. These comments come amid concerns over the declining popularity of President Biden's administration, with fears that Republicans may lose control of both the House and Senate, especially as electoral competition becomes more challenging and Democrats gain ground in some districts.
