Baabda Intensifies Generator Crackdown
The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, confirmed the continuation of the campaign to monitor electric generators. The Consumer Protection Team has carried out approximately 19,400 field inspections since the beginning of the year, and more than a thousand judicial reports have been filed. He also explained that the Consumer Protection Law strengthens efforts to combat high prices and monopolies by increasing fines and speeding up judicial procedures. Additionally, 800 inspection operations were conducted on generators, resulting in 64 confiscations, all aimed at protecting citizens from exploitation and ensuring ongoing oversight and accountability.
