European Regional Meeting in Istanbul on Key Issues
A meeting is being held in Istanbul bringing together the foreign ministers of seven European and regional countries, sponsored by Turkey, to discuss important issues including the Palestinian cause, developments in Yemen, and the security of the Strait of Hormuz. The aim of the gathering is to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the "E3" group (Britain, France, Germany) and the "R4" group (Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt), with a focus on applying international pressure on Israel to support a two-state solution, securing Saudi Arabia's security and the navigation of the Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Straits, and preventing conflicts from spreading to the Black Sea. This is the first such meeting and comes as part of Turkey's efforts to support regional stability and enhance diplomatic mediation more effectively.
