Israel Boosts Alert Ahead of Elections
The Israeli army has raised its state of alert and readiness ahead of the elections scheduled for October 27, amid fears of attempts to disrupt the voting process and a possible escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Defense Minister Yisrael Katz issued instructions to increase vigilance, including suspending leave, strengthening operations rooms, expanding intelligence gathering, and ongoing security assessments on both the land and air fronts. The army is also preparing for the possibility of military escalation with Hezbollah, although no direct plan for a new operation has been announced. This comes despite ongoing tensions on the Lebanese front and concerns that any escalation may coincide with the election date.
