New York declares emergency over floods and storms
The Mayor of New York, Zahran Mammadani, issued warnings to residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms and heavy rain forecasts that could lead to sudden floods. The temperatures are rising to around 38°C, causing widespread electricity outages affecting more than 840,000 households. The city is also receiving reports of an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in Manhattan, with 14 cases confirmed in just a few days. The cases are likely linked to cooling towers and can be treated with antibiotics if diagnosed early.
