Morocco Dam Filling Rate Drops to 72 Percent After Surpassing 75 Percent

Official data shows that the filling rate of Morocco's major dams reached 72.62% as of July 9, 2026, a notable increase compared to 2025, which stood at 37.28%. However, the percentage experienced a slight decline of 3% today, and the total water volume in the dams was approximately 12.365 billion cubic meters, compared to the usual capacity of 17.028 billion cubic meters. Some basins, such as "Tansift," "Lekhus," and "Spa," witnessed record filling rates, while the "Oum Er-Rbia" basin experienced a significant rebound after years of water stress. These figures give Morocco hope for enhancing water security, ensuring a safe summer for citizens, supporting agriculture, and fostering economic and environmental stability.
