Media reports say Morocco has emerged as a leading contender to host the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, citing an agreement between the Confederation of African Football and FIFA to award the hosting rights to the kingdom. The reports said that rescheduling the Africa Cup of Nations to 2028 and postponing the following edition to 2031 would make room for the tournament and avoid a clash of dates ahead of the 2030 World Cup. Fouzi Lekjaa said construction of the Grand Stade Hassan II in Benslimane was progressing on schedule and was expected to be completed in early 2028, making it ready to host major competitions.
