The three transmission towers belonging to Medi 1 Radio in Selouane, in Nador Province, have been dismantled. Each stood 380 metres tall and had been used for decades to broadcast the station on longwave at a frequency of 171 kHz to parts of the Maghreb and southern Europe. The dismantling followed advances in broadcasting technology and the shift to digital systems, which had made the centre’s equipment obsolete.
