A Tunisian court issued heavy sentences in the case of the "Secret Apparatus" attributed to the Ennahdha movement, including life imprisonment and several-year sentences for several defendants, among them political and security leaders, including the movement's leader, Rached Ghannouchi. The charges included formation and membership in a terrorist organization and leveraging expertise for activities described as terrorist. The movement considered the rulings to be unjust and politically motivated, warning of their impact on the course of the Tunisian judiciary, and called for the release of political detainees.
