Moroccan Bank of Africa Succession Plans
Bank of Africa is currently experiencing a debate over its future leadership as the term of Othman Bengloun, who has been leading the bank since 1994, approaches its end. Activities are underway among senior institutions in Morocco and abroad to explore options for his successor, with the possibility of the French group Crédit Mutuel withdrawing from the capital. This could open the door for local or Gulf investors to participate in controlling the bank. Meetings and consultations regarding a potential successor are ongoing, given the significance of the role and its impact on Morocco's economy and Africa as a whole.
