Algeria advances gas pipeline project
Algeria is accelerating the implementation of the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline project, with the first fieldwork beginning in the Oran region after energy ministers from Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria approved the final plan for the project. This comes at a time when Morocco and Nigeria are nearing the signing of a final government agreement to develop the Atlantic African gas pipeline, which spans approximately 6,900 kilometers at an estimated cost of $25 billion, and will supply about 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually for use in Europe and Morocco.
