Pope visits Spain on immigration and abuse issues
Pope Leo XIV arrived in Spain on a seven-day visit focused on migration issues and sexual abuse within the Church. The visit included an official reception in Madrid, masses held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and in the city center, where hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend. He will also deliver a speech before the Spanish Parliament, bless the Tower of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, and meet with victims of abuses faced by nearly 200,000 minors since 1940. Additionally, he will visit the Canary Islands to meet with and support migrants, amid ongoing flows of migrants from Africa to Spain through dangerous routes.
