Morocco Issues Key Ruling on Home Cameras
The Moroccan Court of Cassation issued an important ruling regarding the protection of private life and personal data, emphasizing that installing surveillance cameras inside homes should not violate individuals' rights without their consent. The court ordered the removal of seven surveillance cameras installed around a villa in Casablanca, imposed a daily fine on the violator, and awarded financial compensation to a neighbor who was distressed by the monitoring. This judgment serves as a legal reference for setting guidelines on installing cameras in residential areas to safeguard privacy.
