Oman electricity output rises 4.3% by August 2026

The total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 4.3% by the end of August 2026, reaching 37,481.8 gigawatt-hours compared to the same period in 2025. Muscat Governorate recorded the highest growth rate at 204.8%, followed by Al Dakhliya with 44.1%, while production in North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah decreased by 16.4%. Additionally, net electricity production rose by 4.6% to 36,463.9 gigawatt-hours, with significant growth in Muscat at 204.4%. Conversely, water production decreased by 3.5%, reaching 330,649.3 thousand cubic meters, with a 6.2% decline in Muscat. However, Dhofar experienced a 3.4% increase in water production.
