Social Media and Dissent
Dr. Rajab bin Ali Al Owaisi warns that the misuse of social media platforms—through bullying, incitement, fake accounts, and provocative content—turns differences of opinion into conflict and fuels hatred and division, particularly among young people. Although these platforms help spread knowledge and foster communication, their impact depends on how they are used. The writer calls for greater digital awareness and critical thinking, stronger accountability and respect for differing views, and an ethical charter and regulations to govern the platforms and protect social coexistence without shutting them down.
