The Israeli occupation forces demolished the Taban ruin in Masafer Yatta, which led to the displacement of approximately 12 families with no shelter or basic living essentials. They are now living outdoors and relying on caves and tents as temporary shelters. The operation targeted all the structures of the ruin, including homes, livestock facilities, and water tanks, amid escalating attacks on water sources. Despite these assaults, the residents have shown a strong attachment to their land, continuing to rehabilitate the caves and resist displacement in the face of greater threats from settlers and a lack of deterrence. Their legal and political struggle has persisted for more than 22 years.
